I got an Ipod nano last month. I figured it out the first night and its worked great ever since up until now.
well, I put music on my Ipod last Friday morning. I tryed plugging it in on Wednesday and it made the hardware failed sound, and acted like it wasn't there. But it makes the USB unplug sound when I take it off. I thought it was my Ipod so I tryed it on another computer and it worked. I tryed someone elses Ipod on my computer and it worked. I tryed system restoring my computer back to October 30, it won't work. I tryed before that to, it looks like its going to work, it restarts and everything but when I log on it says it wasn't able to restore and no changes were made.
Its really weird, why does other Ipods work on my computer but not mine? Why does it work on other peoples computers? Why can't I system restore my computer back? Any ideas?
Did you try to reformat the Ipod or maybe reinstall Itunes?
That still wouldn't explain why she can't system restore though.
You have 2 probably unrelated problems here:
1: Plug your ipod in and wait for it to fail.
2: Right click my computer > properties > hardware tab > device manager.
3: Find your ipod in there - could someone confirm where abouts it is? and press enter on it.
4: control tab to driver and click uninstall driver.
5: In this order, disconnect your ipod, restart, connect your ipod.
See if that solves your issue.
As far as system restore goes, if I am to assume that you did not disable it your self, this kind of behavier is usually caused by something nasty taking control of your system. There are many solutions to this problem, all of which are far to long winded for me to type considering that i'm falling asleep at my computer.
Get sited help to boot into safemode (google it) and run anty virus and anty spyware scans.
